We watch movies and listen to the songs frequently. But some of the media player keeps you irritating with the message saying to register it to play further or demo ended or register media player to make it file supportive. Something same happened with me lost of time so I compiled this list of open source media players which makes me always free to use. They are developing constantly and frequently. They are always free to use and modify. I know this is not the complete list of open source media player but i’ll try to keep it updated. You can help me with others those are not listed here or commenting on which is your favorite opensource media player. Please share this link if you like this list. I am sorry for my poor English.

VLC media player is an lightweight, open-source multimedia player that supports nearly all digital audio and video formats (e.g. H.264 ,MKV, TS (but not from Technisat DigiCorder), MPEG-2, mp3, AVI, MPEG-4, Ogg, DivX, aac, ...). It can also transcode and convert media files, and act as a streaming server over unicast or multicast and IPv4 or IPv6. VLC does not need any codecs to work.
